Hola a todos!
After a long two days, the Schenectady High School Women's Choir and the College of St. Rose Women's Chorale are all home safe and sound. But, not without making the best of our last day in San Jose!
We woke up a little bit later and enjoyed a relaxing breakfast at "El Vesuvio" for the last time. Juan Carlos, our chef, has been absolutely amazing and we could not have asked for a better experience! We will miss him very much! Following breakfast, the SHS girls decided they wanted to go down to El Mercado (the market) for a few last minute souvenirs. Along the way, we walked through the park, where they were setting up for an art festival called Transitarte! Check out some pictures :)
When we returned to the hotel, we all had lunch at "El Vesuvio" and it was here that Ms. Hawk gave her famous trip speech. It was a fine blend of laughter and tears and we all realized how amazing this trip has really been. Each girl was recognized for how they have grown and shown their beautiful characteristics during this trip.
After lunch, some of us spent time packing and relaxing at the hotel and some of the others went to get some gelato from a nearby shop. How yummy! Some of us were also lucky to go back downtown to see what was happening at the festival. Lots of art, music, dance and even some boxing!
In our last hour at Hotel Vesuvio, we all finished up getting ready and got in some last minute rays of sun. Then at 2:30pm, we loaded up the bus and made our way to the San Jose airport. From that point, we went through many long hours of travel. Check out some pictures from our travel...
After a long 16 hours of travel (3:00pm to 8:00am with clocks ahead), we finally made it back home with parents waiting anxiously to pick up the girls. Finally home!
In the end, it was a very bittersweet day. It was wonderful to get back home to loved ones, but so hard to say goodbye to Costa Rica and our traveling comrades. We will always be able to look back at our pictures and remember the life-changing experience that we all had in Costa Rica.
Thank you all for following the blog and we look forward to our next excursion with the Schenectady High School Women's Choir and the College of St. Rose Women's Chorale!!!
Pura Vida y Hasta La Vista!
